Do you ever connect to my bank account?
No. Mitten never links to your bank or asks for your online banking credentials. You upload a statement (PDF or CSV) whenever you choose to, and that's the only data Mitten sees.
How does Penny handle transactions she can't identify?
She flags it and asks you to confirm or explain it, rather than guessing or filing it away silently, so you're never left staring at a mystery line item on your own.
What happens during the 14-day trial?
You get full access from day one at $0, and no card is needed to start. We'll send a reminder email on day 12, before the trial ends, and nothing is charged unless you choose a plan. Pay only if it works for you, and you are still covered by a 14-day money-back guarantee after that: a whole month to see if Mitten works for your household.
Is Mitten priced per person or per household?
Per household. One price covers everyone sharing your household, up to 5 members, with no per-seat charges. If your house needs more seats than that, email us and we'll sort it out for a small monthly amount per extra person.
What statement formats can I upload?
PDF and CSV. The PDF is the path we'd start with: Penny reads statements from most banks directly, cryptic line items and all. CSV works too, when the file carries a date, a description, and an amount column, though not every bank's export lines up. If yours doesn't go through, send it to us and we'll take a look.
Does the debt payoff planner cost extra?
No, it's included in the one plan, along with everything else.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, from your account settings, anytime. The 14-day trial needs no card, so if you never choose a plan, you are never charged. If you cancel after paying, you keep full access to the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. Your months stay where they are, and your categorized monthly spending summary stays free to look at, so you can still see where the money went. Transactions, budgets, debt planning, and Penny come back the moment you subscribe again. If you want your own copy, export your transactions to CSV from the transactions screen before you cancel, or reach Mitten support afterwards and we'll get it to you.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. The transactions screen exports what you're looking at to CSV, so a copy of your ledger is always a click away. And any time you want your data, reach Mitten support and we'll get it to you.
